A swing and a… not sure how to feel about Esquire naming Angler “the best new restaurant of 2018”. I mean, yeah its decor is cool, weird, untraditional, imagine hunting lodge decor meets the warehouse of Captain Quint from Jaws. It’s bizarre, complete with a full size bear at the back bar, and large sharks mounted on the walls throughout. The food? Appetizers were excellent if only by a hair. They were pretty odd too. The whole fish , petrole sole, took the serve so long to de-bone it was cold when we had our first bite. The sea bass was really tasty though. Service was excellent however. But best new restaurant in the country??? Not even in our top 20. We did have a great time however and would come back for a drink at the bar. One pet peeve that seems to occur often with these 100+ page wine lists: they are always out of the bottle we order.
